What is JIESTAR? Brick-Built Dinosaur Skeletons and Christmas Builds
JIESTAR is a building-block brand from Shantou, China, and at Toy Haven it is best known for its Dinosaur Museum series: brick-built fossil skeletons of a T-Rex, Triceratops, Spinosaurus and more, each on a museum-style display base. At €14.95 each, they are a great little build for young dinosaur fans.
This guide covers the JIESTAR Dinosaur Museum series, the festive Christmas Railway Station, who the sets suit, and what we have in stock.

The JIESTAR Dinosaur Museum series
Each set in the Dinosaur Museum series builds a dinosaur or prehistoric reptile as a fossil skeleton in sand-coloured bricks, mounted on a brown museum-style display base with a name plaque. It is like having your own natural history museum on the shelf.
There are six skeletons to build:
- 57035 T-Rex (289 pieces): wide-open jaws and rows of sharp teeth, about 25.5 cm long.
- 57036 Triceratops (317 pieces): three horns, a broad neck frill and a beaked jaw, about 25.5 cm long.
- 57037 Mosasaurus (191 pieces): the giant prehistoric sea reptile, raised on supports above its base, about 27 cm long.
- 57038 Pterosaur (188 pieces): a long crested skull and upswept wings, about 18 cm tall.
- 57039 Spinosaurus (268 pieces): its tall sail spines, about 24 cm long.
- 57040 Brachiosaurus (284 pieces): the long-necked giant, about 32 cm long and 20 cm tall, with several movable parts.
Strictly speaking, the Mosasaurus and the pterosaur are not dinosaurs: one is a marine reptile and the other a flying reptile. That is exactly the kind of fact young palaeontologists love to explain, and building the skeletons is a nice way to talk about how these animals lived.
The JIESTAR Christmas Railway Station
For the festive season, the 89142 Christmas Railway Station is a much bigger build of 1,362 pieces. It combines a snow-covered station with a clock tower, a decorated platform and a green-and-red steam locomotive with a flatbed wagon, all on one scenic base of about 38 × 26 × 20 cm. Railway track and LED lighting are included, so the station glows in the evening. The train is not motorised; it is a display piece to bring out every December.
Why JIESTAR dinosaurs are fun to build
The skeletons are small enough to finish in one sitting, which makes them a perfect rainy-afternoon build. Kids can build one dinosaur at a time and gradually fill a whole museum shelf, and the name plaques give it a proper museum feel. At €14.95, they are also a great party gift or reward, and the boxes are small and easy to wrap: the Brachiosaurus box is only about 16.5 × 13.5 × 5.5 cm.
The sand-coloured bricks and the open skeleton shape show how the bones fit together, which makes them more interesting than a plain dinosaur model. Pair a skeleton with a library book about dinosaurs and you have a lovely weekend activity.
