CLC (Chaolechuang) is a Chinese micro-block brand that makes tiny, cute builds, like a smiling avocado, a happy carton of fries or a cheeseburger with a face. The Super Delicious food figures cost just €4.95 each and fit in the palm of your hand.

Micro blocks are much smaller than standard bricks, which makes for a different kind of build. This guide explains what CLC make, how micro-block building works, who it suits and what we have in stock.

What are micro blocks?

Micro blocks work like ordinary building bricks, with studs and tubes that click together, but each piece is tiny. That means a few hundred pieces build a figure only a few centimetres tall, with surprisingly fine detail for its size. You need a little patience and a good light, but the result is a small, solid figure you can put on a desk, a shelf or next to your computer.

Micro blocks are a different size from standard bricks, so they do not combine with your LEGO or other standard bricks. For a full explanation of brick sizes, read our article on microbricks vs ribblebricks vs standard bricks and our introduction to microbricks.

The CLC Super Delicious food series

Six happy food characters, each with a smiling face and little arms or feet:

  • 8922 Avocado (218 pieces): a happy avocado half with a big brown stone in its belly, about 6 cm tall.
  • 8923 Pineapple (216 pieces): a round yellow pineapple with a spiky green crown, about 8.6 cm tall.
  • 8924 Fries (234 pieces): a red carton of golden fries with a big smile, about 6 cm tall.
  • 8926 Cheeseburger (312 pieces): bun, lettuce, cheese and a smiling face; the largest model in the series.

The CLC 6757 Panda Jailbreak

For a bigger micro-block challenge, the 6757 Panda Jailbreak from CLC's Play Blocks series has 1,098 pieces. It shows a giant panda hauling itself over the bars of its enclosure, with a little sparrow perched on its raised paw and a red ball on the flowery grass below. It measures about 16 × 7.5 × 15 cm, and at €9.95 it is a lot of build for the price.

Why CLC micro blocks are fun

CLC figures are pure fun: silly, cheerful and quick. A food figure takes an evening or less, costs €4.95, and makes a great little desk buddy. They are perfect for party bags, stocking fillers, a small thank-you gift or a calm screen-free half hour.

Build the whole Super Delicious menu and line them up as a little café on your shelf. Or build one together: one person finds the pieces, the other builds.

A few tips for micro blocks: work on a tray or a light-coloured cloth so tiny pieces do not roll away, sort the colours before you start, and press each piece down firmly.

Which CLC set should I choose?

  • A first micro-block build: the 8927 Milk (204 pieces) or 8923 Pineapple.
  • The biggest food figure: the 8926 Cheeseburger.
  • A bigger challenge: the 6757 Panda Jailbreak, with 1,098 pieces.
