Who makes Keeppley?

Keeppley is a building-block brand from Qman Toys (Guangdong Qman Toys Industry Co., Ltd.), a Chinese toy manufacturer based in Shantou that has been producing its own building blocks since 1994. Qman launched Keeppley in 2019 as its new-generation brand.

According to Qman, the idea behind Keeppley is to offer good-quality, good-value building sets with properly licensed characters. For us, that is the key point: Keeppley's Pokémon sets are officially licensed, so you get the real characters, designed to look the part.

What do Keeppley make?

Keeppley make brick-built models of characters and scenes. The Pokémon range is the one most fans know, and it comes in several sizes.

Large Pokémon display builds

Pikachu (K20236) builds from 728 pieces into a scene about 26 cm tall, sitting on a tree stump with a red mushroom, a sunflower and small flowers. Ash-Greninja (K20215) uses about 780 pieces and translucent water effects, and measures roughly 40 × 35 × 30 cm when finished. Mega Charizard X (K20216) has about 770 pieces, with movable wings and a movable tail section so you can adjust its pose after building.

Mid-size sets and Pokémon bonsai

The mid-size sets include Venusaur (497 pieces), Gyarados (481 pieces), Mewtwo (347 pieces) and the Keeppley K20245 Pikachu & Sunflora (330 pieces), a flower-field scene with Pikachu among smiling Sunflora. The Pokémon bonsai sets put Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur in a little planter, and the Charmander bonsai is about 13 cm tall.

Family Planet sets

Compact models of Eevee and all eight of its evolutions, each sitting on a round "planet" base. The Eevee set has 101 pieces and is about 12 cm across when built.

Keeppley also make sets with other licences, such as Doraemon and Sanrio. Alongside Pokémon, we stock two Sanrio Kuppy figures: Hello Kitty and Kuromi.

Why Keeppley Pokémon sets are fun to build

Pokémon are made for brick building. The characters have bold shapes and clear colours, and it is great fun to see a familiar face appear out of a pile of bricks. The big sets give you a proper build with a satisfying finished scene, while the Family Planet sets are quick, cheerful builds you can finish in one sitting.

The Family Planet line is especially nice to build together. Each family member can pick their favourite Eeveelution, build it, and then line up the whole family on a shelf. Prefer your Eevees as ready-made figures? Our guide to Funism Eevee blind boxes covers the figure version.

A quick note on ages: the mid-size, bonsai and Sanrio sets are marked 6+ and Pikachu 8+, while Ash-Greninja, Mega Charizard X and the small Family Planet sets are marked 14+, so younger fans may want a hand from an older builder.

Keeppley vs LEGO Pokémon: how do they compare on price?

The Keeppley Pikachu costs about 6.2 cents per piece, a third less than LEGO's Munchlax (9.2 cents) and 40% less than LEGO's Eevee (10.2 cents) at official prices. LEGO sets are often cheaper in Dutch shops: the lowest price we found for LEGO's Eevee on price comparison site BrickVIP was €42.97, or about 7.3 cents per piece. That is closer, but still more per piece than the Keeppley Pikachu. We couldn't find a listed street price for Munchlax. Ash-Greninja and Mega Charizard X both work out at about 5.8 cents per piece, roughly 37% less than Munchlax, a LEGO set of similar size.

Piece counts are only a rough guide, because part types differ, but for a big, officially licensed Pokémon build, Keeppley gives you a lot of building for your money.
